Mothers who reported sleeping five hours or less per day when their babies were six months old had a threefold higher risk for substantial weight retention (11 pounds or more) at their baby’s first birthday than moms who slept seven hours per day, according to a new study by Kaiser Permanente and Harvard Medical School / Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

The latest survey has shown that nearly 70% of American women are suffering with sleep problems. New mothers and pregnant women are among them who don’t have good sleep during the night times.
This survey has also proved that the sleep problems will be increased by the age of the person. Most of the women who are suffering with sleep apnea are aged above 25.
The result of this survey shows that out of 100 women, most of them are having sleeping problems and 29% of them are using several types of sleeping aids for few nights a week to get good/restful sleep.
Sleep disorders are mostly seen in postpartum women. Out of 100 postpartum women, 42% of them are never or rarely get the good night sleep. With these sleep disorders, most of the postpartum women face the problem of unusual weight gain.
They have to control their unusual weight gain by taking proper suggestions from the doctor on postpartum weight retention. Otherwise they will be facing most severe health problems such as diabetes, artery diseases, cardiovascular diseases, etc.
Pregnant women also face the same problem but they are some what less when compared to postpartum women. Out of 100 pregnant women 30% of them are feeling difficult to attain proper sleep at night time.
The research which was done in the recent times has proved that several internal complications will be developed in the pregnant women if she is suffering with sleep apnea.
Good rest and sleep is essential for pregnant women. If she did not get good sleep, several internal complications will be developed with in her and even sometimes to her baby also.
Fortunately these complications which occur in the pregnant women are curable with sleep apnea treatments.
But the pregnant woman who is suffering with sleep apnea quadruples the chance of attaining high blood pressure and doubles the risk of affecting with gestational diabetes.
