So, stress becomes normal part of your life. You don’t even notice that stress is the cause for serious health problems in you. You will never think that your sleep problems can be due to stress. Due to less time for relaxation and leisure, you become sleep deprived.
Once you are sleep deprived, you experience difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep, waking up in between the sleep and not able to sleep again. When you are sleep deprived, it results in daytime sleepiness. It also affects your mood, performance, concentration and behavior.
How stress affects your sleep?
Stress makes your muscles tense and prevents you to be in the relaxed state, which is necessary for sleep. Not only extended work hours, children and modern living also cause stress, which affects your sleep. Managing and preventing stress is the main thing for a healthy and peaceful sleep.
Tips for sleep deprived to manage stress:
You should manage stress during daytime to get a good night sleep.
- Follow healthy habits regularly to prevent stress. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, smoking and other stimulants that can disturb your sleep. Balanced diet is important for your body to make your body function properly.
- Take ten to fifteen minute break two to three times everyday in order to decompress and manage your stress. In the break time, you should not think about the work and its consequences.
- Exercise daily as it gives physical workout to your body and relieves tension that is build up by the stress in your body. Exercise in the early hours as it keeps you active.
- Practice relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation to make your mind peaceful. By practicing these techniques, you can avoid distractions which help in improving your quality of sleep.
- Plan your day ahead only. Don’t rush here and there so that you become more tensed. Plan in such a way that what are the needs that are important to do on that day and what things can be done next day. Planning will not mix up all the things you will not try to do all the things in the same day itself making it messy. You can make a to-do list and in what order you have to execute.
- Play with your kids whenever you have leisure time. Playing with kids can relax your mind off from daily stress and you can go bed in relaxed way.
- When you mind is full of problems, you will not get sleep at night. Try to share your problems with your partner or other family members before going to bed so that your burden will be lessened when you go to bed.
