Women Who Do Shift Work More Likely To Be Forced To Retire Early

If you are a woman and work shifts your chances of enforced early retirement are greater than a woman who is not involved in shift-work or a man who works shifts, says an article in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

The findings come from the Danish Work Environment Cohort Study, which started in 1990, and information from the national welfare register - it involved 8,000 male and female employees.

The latest research conducted on shift work and its side effects has proved that women who are doing shift work are more likely to be forced to retire early due to several complications in their health.

This research was conducted on both men and women; they considered both of them equally and observed them totally until they are 60 years old.

It has found that women suffer a lot with several heath problems due to shift work when compared to men. Men will have enough resistance and power when compared to women. So, they will have somewhat less health problems in shift work when compared to women.

The various common health problems, which obtain in women due to shift work are peptic ulcers, breast cancer, sleep disorders or sleep disturbances like Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), heart attack, accidents and pregnancy complications.

Peptic ulcers affect the human body due to improper food habits. Generally people who have peptic ulcers in their stomach might have followed the irregular eating or they might have not taken the right food at right time.

People who have the problem of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) will not attain the proper sleep at night time and they also feel difficult to breath at night time. With this unusual breathing, they are affected with the heart attacks.

Pregnancy complications and breast cancer will occur in the women due to the internal complications obtained in them with the problem of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
