With the academic year at the half-way mark, millions of high school students are preparing to take their mid-term exams. Unfortunately, research is increasingly showing that more and more teens are not getting enough sleep, which can have a negative impact on their grades.
Teens are no longer adhering to “lights out”. Among the reasons for these changes in sleeping patterns are increased part-time working hours, talking on the cell phone, computer usage and watching television at bedtime.

The latest research has proved that the teens who don’t have enough sleep at night time will not obtain good score in their exams where as the teens who sleeps for enough time will score high in their exams, even though they are less intelligent than the people who don’t sleep for required amount of time at night times.
According to the view of experts, teens must create a good bedtime environment in order to be sharp. They must get at least 8 to 9 hours of quality sleep in a day to be active. The performance of the teens in their academics can be dictated with the amount of sleep.
Certainly a teen who achieves good sleep for enough time during nights will have improved academic performance and he will be attentive and more active in the class.
Coming to the response, he responds more for almost all the questions and doubts asked by their teacher. Other than these things, positive attitude and interactions with the friends and teachers will also be improved with the good night sleep.
According to the view of experts, the reason for this development in the teens is: with good restful sleep, the brain will become relaxed and refreshed and due to this, activeness will be attained in their academics as well as in their behavior.
The experts of AASM say that teens require more sleep when compared to adults because the circadian rhythm of the teens will be disrupted easily with the improper sleep. So, they require a good quality and quantity of sleep for best learning.
